Local High School Football Team Wins Again!

The Stingers Win 48 in a Row!

Let's take a look at their victory last night.

Last Nights Win

The Smithtown Stingers High School Football team won their forty-eighth consecutive game last night against the Portside Pirates, beating them 35-10. Tim Johnson, the team's senior QB, had this to say: It was a great effort by both teams, but the work we put in made us come out on top. We spent all week preparing for this game to preserve our streak, and we are looking forward to next week when we play our rivals. This victory adds to their incredible resume of wins, placing them at number 1 ranked in the entire nation. Their average lead per game is a staggering 19.3 points, and their closest game was 21-14 against the New Town Eagles last October.

Notable Players

Of course a team doesn't just win a game. Let's take a look at some of the prominent names on the Stingers' roster that you should watch for next Friday night. These players instill fear into the other teams, so watch out! First of all, we have #10, QB Tim Johnson, who in last night's game, threw for 358 yards, and rushed for another 73. Following him in performance is well-known #16, WR Jimmy Washington, who set a school record of 142 receiving yards, and a total of 18 receptions, in a single game last night. In the backfield, we have #24, RB Robert Johnson, brother to the QB, who had a stunning 94 yards on just 7 carries.

Looking Forward

In planning for the week ahead, the Stingers look to set the tone right from the beginning of next week's game. Last year, they beat the Cardinals 48-35 in a dominant offensive performance from both teams. This year however, Coach Thompson expects the Cardinals to put up more of a fight than last year. With a new offensive coordinater and several returning starters on the defensive side of the ball, I expect them to be more competitive this year. the coach said at a recent interview. The team will secure its regular play off spot early if they beat the Cardinals at home on Friday evening.
